Little Wins: Daily Practice to Reach Your Goals

Hi Beauties!

The weekend is fast approaching and as many people are getting ready to wind down and relax, I am getting geared up for a super productive weekend of planning and writing. Yesterday's blog post got me super excited for goal setting and planning the rest of the year out in terms of what I can do to succeed. The list is long my friends. I have a lot I want to jump on but, it can definitely feel overwhelming. I know I’m not alone here and sitting down to use the SMART formula for goal setting can feel like a lot to do.

So let’s chat about little wins.

Instead of getting right to the big goal, focusing on little wins is another way to take steps forward and it's super helpful for when you feel overwhelmed.

So what is a little win? It could be anything. For business it could be booking a new client, reorganizing your lash studio or trolley, or shaving 15 minutes off your usual application time (go you!). Sometimes it can be as small as getting to the gym, folding all the laundry or making time for yourself without your partner/kids/phone. Personal little wins are just as important to your success.

One of the best ways to recognize little wins is to express gratitude. This can be as easy as writing down three things that you are grateful for at the beginning or the end of your day. Alternatively you could spend a few quiet moments to go over all of the things you accomplished or you are proud of. Without even trying, your little wins will pop into your head and you can express gratitude and congratulate yourself.

“If you woke up tomorrow to only the things you've expressed your gratitude for today, then what would be missing from your life in the morning?”

Nanette Mathews

Slowly but surely, this practice of patting yourself on the back and expressing gratitude will become a positive daily habit that will get you closer to your goals. Of course, there will be days when you don’t feel like you want to, and that’s okay. After really hard days, I still give thanks for things that were the highlight of my day, takeout instead of having to make dinner, quiet moments when my kids are playing (and not fighting) or just the fact that I finally made it to bedtime after a rough day.
